Aluminium treads with a solid steel frame
The two treads are aluminium with a ribbed, non-slip surface, so they give you grip in the wet and won't rust up on you. Underneath, the folding frame is steel finished in powder-coated black, which is the part that carries the load and takes the knocks. Put together it stays light at around 8 kg, so it's easy to hold up while you bolt it on, and it's rated to a maximum static load of 200 kg. That's plenty of headroom for adults and gear.
Simple to use, nothing to power
This is a manual step, and a lot of caravanners like it that way. You flip the treads out by hand when you set up and fold them away before you leave. There's no motor, no wiring and nothing to draw off your batteries, so there's nothing electrical to fail when you're a long way from home.
