Black Single Caravan Step
A good step makes getting in and out of the van easy, and this one does the job without any fuss. The Black Single Caravan Step gives you one solid, wide tread to stand on at the door, and it folds up flat underneath the van when it's time to hit the road. There's no motor and no wiring to worry about. You pull it out by hand, and a spring holds it firmly in whichever position you've set it.
The black powder-coated finish suits a darker van or a checkerplate front, and it hides road grime a lot better than a bright silver step. If you'd prefer the same step in a lighter finish, we also stock it as a silver single caravan step.
One firm step, folds away for travel
The tread is a full 540mm wide, so you've got plenty of room to plant a boot, and the ribbed, non-slip surface holds grip in the wet. When you're set up, the step sits about 149mm below the frame, which is a comfortable single stride up to most doorways. When you pack up, it folds back to 373mm deep and 161mm high, tucked in flat against the chassis so it doesn't rattle or drag on the driveway.
Manual and simple
There's nothing to break down here. The spring-assisted mechanism does the work of holding the step out when you're using it and keeping it up when you're towing. No switches, no fuses, no draw on your battery. For a lot of caravanners that simplicity is exactly what they want.
Built to take the weight
The frame is powder-coated steel with an aluminium tread, and it's rated to a 200kg static load. That covers adults plus whatever you're carrying through the door. It bolts up to a flat section of chassis under the doorway using the supplied bolts, and the mounting holes are slotted for 12mm bolts so you've got a bit of adjustment to line things up.
Single step or double?
A single step is the right pick when the gap between the ground and your doorway is on the smaller side, or when you're mounting fairly low to the ground. If your van sits high, or the climb to the door feels like a big stretch, a two-tier step splits that height into two easier stages. Measure the drop from the ground to your doorway before you decide, and check you've got a clear, flat spot on the chassis to bolt to.
